Our full day AirwaySkills programmes are designed for doctors practising in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine.
Course Dates
AirwaySkills courses will be conducted in Auckland at regular intervals. Extra courses will become available, at other times, as advised. Each course is strictly limited in numbers, so early registration is advised. Courses with their status set to FULL are fully booked.
Accreditation
AirwaySkills is approved by the ANZCA CPD Program. Hands-on tutorial, Category 3/Level 2: 3 Credits per hour. Pre-reading, Category 2/Level 1: 1Credit per hour. Approval number: 152 AirwaySkills is an Accredited Workshop by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.

Programme Objectives
Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Programme
After participating in this AirwaySkills “Hands-on Tutorial in Airway Management Techniques”, you will be able to:
- Identify the features of a difficult airway
- Apply planned strategies when managing the difficult airway
- Prepare and conduct an awake intubation
- Develop an extubation plan
- Optimise ventilation and intubation attempts
- Choose and utilize alternative ventilation and intubation techniques
- Use the fibreoptic bronchoscope for intubation with a range of techniques
- Conduct emergency airway procedures including transtracheal jet ventilation, cricothyroidotomy, and surgical cricothyroidotomy
- Understand safe airway management principles and apply them to a range of clinical case scenarios
Emergency Medicine Programme
On completion of the Emergency Airway Course the participant will be able to:
- Identify the features of a difficult airway
- Prepare a plan to manage a difficult airway
- Optimise ventilation and intubation attempts
- Use direct laryngoscopy applying first pass success principles
- Apply a rapid sequence induction in a difficult airway
- Manage a cannot intubate, cannot ventilate situation
- Conduct emergency airway procedures including transtracheal jet ventilation, cannula cricothyroidotomy and surgical cricothyroidotomy
- Choose and utilize alternative ventilation and intubation techniques
- Understand safe airway management principles and apply them to a range of clinical case scenarios
Terms and Conditions
Cancellation/Refund policy
To keep our course fees as low as possible we have the following cancellation/refund policy:-
- Cancellation in writing 30 days or more prior to a course will result in a full refund, less a 7.5% administration fee
- Less than 30 days: course fees are non- refundable for cancellations within 30 days and course fees may not be transferred to future courses. Candidates may arrange a substitute participant with AirwaySkills’ approval.
AirwaySkills reserves the right to cancel planned courses. This could occur at short notice and could apply if the minimum number of participants has not been confirmed or other essential requirements for a course change. In the extremely unlikely event that this occurs you will be offered rescheduling on a course to suit you or a full refund.
